Welcome To We Are 344
This website was created as a way for the members of Local 344 to communicate and voice their opinions on the topics that interest us.
As you may have noticed, this site is set up as a blog. What that means is I will be writing articles on subjects that I think will interest the membership. I will also link to articles and videos and other items of interest.
But to know for sure what is of interest, I will need you all participating and commenting on what is going on here… that will make it easier to keep everything relevant to what YOU want to talk about.
Your very first comment will have to be approved by an administrator, after the first is approved , you’ll be able to comment at will. I’ve set it up that way to try and keep this in the 344 family only, I hope you understand.
Also, I don’t know everybody in the local, so don’t take offense when I try to confirm your membership in local 344… like I say, it’s all about keeping it in ,the family.
Secondly, any member that wants to be setup as an author on this site can be, the more authors we have, the better this site will become. As an author you’ll be able to write articles and link to offsite articles videos, etc. Just let me know about having author privileges and I’ll hook you up.

Alright Phil, you’re in. You shouldn’t need approval for your comments to show in the future… if everything is setup correctly.

This site was made for the members, majority rules as far as how the site is policed for whiners, complainers and cussers. I say let em have their say and what happens, happens.
As far as a news feed from the local, would love to see that happen, think it would be great. Would also love to have someone from the local posting and answering questions as well.
Mostly I see this site as a place to discuss the issues that are important to us. If the majority thinks it should be something else, well then…

As far as the UA supporting the Democratic party I think it is great because I am a Democrat. I find it offensive when someone drivels on and on because they don’t see fit for the current man to be in office. I would advise against any mention of racism, politics, sexual preference, religion or any other topics that some may find offensive.
Thoughts?
I don’t think we can avoid the political, just because the political is such a huge part of what we are as union members. I have a ton of information I can bring out to take the conversation over the political cliff, so to speak.
But I’m really waiting to see the direction the crowd wants to go… whether to stay more local, personal… or to dig into the bigger deeper issues.
I’m ready to do either both or neither… just waiting for the crowd to form.

I have friend believe it not… really.. Anyway the guy is like a brother. just a few days before the election I thought we were going to have to pull the van over and fist fight right on I-44. We both agree on politics so I feel pretty comfortable about it.
Since we are early and the crowd has not made it yet, I’ll tell you that there have been some days I have stayed home this winter. while channel surfing i came across “sesame street” Would you believe that Ernie doesn’t look a day older than he did when I was a kid? it seems he has been playing the drums for quite a while now.
